Coca-Cola needed to meet growing demand and improve product distribution across New Zealand. Investing in their existing rail distribution by extending the platform meant a notable increase in their freight capacity, mitigating the increasing road congestion around the facility and reducing carbon emissions. The project started in 2021 with Railize leading the concept design as the lead consultant. Deliverables included concept design, detailed design, and construction supervision. We worked with our architectural, geotechnical, structural and construction management partners to find design solutions for the challenging site, provided tendering support during the procurement phase and problem solved on-site with our construction partners to meet a firm opening date. The project was completed on time, in July 2024, and achieved its primary goals of increasing rail capacity and reducing carbon emissions.
